1οΈ Safe Sleep Guidelines (AAP Recommendations)
CRITICAL: These evidence-based practices reduce SIDS risk by up to 70%
Based on American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommendations:
The ABCs of Safe Sleep
A - Alone
- Baby sleeps in their own safe space
- No co-sleeping on adult beds, couches, or chairs
- Room-sharing (same room, different surface) is recommended for first 6-12 months

B - Back
- Always place baby on their back for every sleep
- Once baby can roll both ways independently (around 4-6 months), you don't need to reposition
- Back sleeping reduces SIDS risk significantly

C - Crib
- Firm, flat surface (crib, bassinet, or play yard)
- Fitted sheet only - no loose bedding
- No pillows, blankets, bumpers, or toys
