Typical Readiness Age:
- Most experts suggest 4-6 months minimum
- Baby can self-soothe (hands to mouth, sucking)
- Sleeping longer stretches some nights (4+ hours)
- No major developmental leaps happening
- Baby is healthy and gaining weight well
Signs of Readiness:
- Wakes frequently but isn't hungry
- Can fall asleep independently sometimes
- No underlying medical issues
- Family is emotionally ready
- Stable routine established
NOT Ready If:
- Under 4 months old
- Illness or teething currently
- Major life changes (moving, travel)
- You're not emotionally ready
- Partner not on same page
